Discover Krabi: Ao Nang, Paradise or Tourist Trap? Part One

Hey guys, what’s up? Today I am at Ao Nang, Krabi, Thailand. I’ll be poking around here for the next couple
of days, and attempting to answer the eternal question,
Ao Nang, paradise on Earth, or hellacious tourist trap second only to Khao San Road? I may not be able to to come up with a definitive
answer, but we will certainly look around, see what we can see and see the good and the
bad points of Ao Nang. OK let’s go. Little food kiosks across the street from
the beach here. This is the Coffee Club, a great place for
overpriced coffee and overpriced food. OK, so basically we are giving you another extra half
an hours sleep. for the male, olympics. The beaches at Ao Nang and Nopparat Thara
are very shallow. Which means at high tide the beach disappears
in some places. and at low tide you have to walk a couple
of hundred meters to get out to water that is above your knees. This is Nopparat Thara beach, behind the beach
we have these lovely shade trees, Casuarina trees. also known as sea pines. It makes for a very nice place to relax between
swimming sessions. The usual tacky souvenir stands here at Nopparat
Thara beach. This is the main mosque in Ao Nang. Ao Nang used to be a strictly Muslim town
until the backpackers discovered it, and business people from outside the are started to move
in. This is a very expensive mosque. There is a lot of money that went into this. St. Agnes Catholic Church, Ao Nang. Hey guys, this video about Ao Nang is getting
a little long. So, I am going to split it into two parts. This is the end of part one. In part two I will show you more of the fascinating
town of Ao Nang, Krabi. And I’ll answer the question I posed in this
part. Is Ao Nang paradise on Earth, or is it a hellacious
tourist trap? Check out part two to find out. If you enjoyed the video, please share it
and subscribe to my channel, Curious Bob. See you next time.

We are leaving Chiang Mai on Nov 7 and moving to the south for a month or two. Do you recommend we set up our home base in Ao Nang or Krabi? Also, is Krabi and Ao Nang the same city because it seems people have been using the he names interchangeably. Thanks for your help!!
